 This beautiful home was built in 1952 by William Moore who was a descendant of the original settlers of Balmorhea, Madera Valley and Toyahvale. The home served as “Ranch Headquarters” until the 1990’s. John & Beth Laird, the current owners, had been long time visitors to Balmorhea from their home in the Southwest. They came to Balmorhea because of the people, the view and the tranquility. “We know that your visit will bring the same sense of enjoyment that we have experienced.” The facility is quiet and secluded, providing the perfect backdrop for a romantic weekend or a well deserved get away.
The Ranch Headquarters has been restored to its original condition which created a “State of the Art” bed and breakfast to serve guests. You will feel like you are staying in a Five Star Hotel or as some guests have commented “It’s like staying with an old friend.”
Laird Ranch is pleased to offer a unique reservations only lodging experience that provides modern, newly furnished rooms with satellite TV, DVD players, a library, wireless internet service no charge, and a famous Laird Ranch “Hearty Texas Breakfast” every day. A one mile fitness/jogging trail and several shaded seating areas are located on the ranch for relaxing, watching some of the hundreds of species of birds that inhabit the area or being inspired by the sunrise or sunset over the Davis Mountains.
Laird Ranch Bed & Breakfast is convenient to all popular destinations in the area; McDonald Observatory, Marfa Lights, Davis Mountains, Ft. Davis, Sul Ross College, Alpine, Balmorhea State Park, Pecos Rodeo, Pecos Museum, Carlsbad Caverns, Big Bend National Park.
This is an adult-oriented facility we welcome children over 12. Each sleeping room is furnished with a queen size bed which comfortably accommodates two people. Sorry there are no cribs, roll-away beds or additional bedding available for the rooms.
The Party Deck and Gazebo are yours to enjoy 24 hours a day. The Chimeneas are fun to gather around so lots of firewood is kept on hand so you can enjoy long evenings by the fire. Take your turn at the "house guitar". The Cantina is open 24 hours a day for registered guests. You are encouraged to enjoy this room – a fun place to visit, play cards or participate in a rousing game of dominos or simply make new friends and relax.
Feel like pitching some horseshoes or trying your hand at the popular West Texas game of pitching washers? There are pits and equipment along with a beautiful live oak tree for shade and for the contestants or cheering section.
Laird Ranch Bed & Breakfast and the grounds are NON SMOKING. Family dogs live in the home therefore guests with pets can not be accommodated. A modern clean outside kennel is available for guest’s pets or arrangements can be made for inside boarding of your pet with a premier veterinary clinic in the area.
Laird Ranch is a facility designed for adult comfort, children over 12 are welcome. Our rooms are available by reservation only. Visa, Master Card & Discover cards are accepted. Because of the limited number of rooms and the facility’s popularity, it is necessary to give a 7 day notification of cancellation. A cancellation fee per room reserved is imposed. During summer months and holidays a two day minimum stay may be required for Friday and Saturday reservations.
